Greetings from Team 3! Team 3 is the Cincinnati Regional team, so we will be staying in the Diocese of Cincinnati for the 2016-2017 mission year (with occasional traveling to Indiana, Kentucky, and Missouri). We will not be traveling to as many states as the rest of the traveling teams but we will be putting on just as many retreats.
Aside from leading retreats, Team 3 has been keeping busy with service projects through Dynamic Catholic and other random evangelization across Cincinnati.
Life on the road has been adventurous, hectic (at times), challenging, and equally as rewarding. From sporadic trips to Jungle Jim’s (a very popular mega grocery store in Ohio) to drama practice in Walmart, we’ve been having a blast and watching in awe as the Lord works in each of our lives every day.
One thing we have all learned about the Lord and retreats is that when you ask Him to pour down his graces, He does – plentifully – each and every time.
A constant reminder that keeps us going are the multitude of tears from healing after Prayer Ministry. It is so beautiful seeing the young people come to realize the abounding love of our Father and watching them fully give themselves to Him for the first time.
It says in Matthew 17:20:
“Amen, I say to you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed… You can move mountains. Nothing will be impossible for you.”
Man, has this been true for our retreatants (and our team). Open the door of your hearts just a crack for the Lord and He will come rushing in. In God’s splendor, we have been blessed to see the softening of many retreatants hearts through Prayer Ministry. The courage and vulnerability the retreatants have to be able to open their hearts to the Lord and let Him heal inspires and amazes us every retreat.
Host families have been an amazing experience as well. We are cared for so greatly. The Lord is truly never outdone in generosity. I’m willing to take a bet that racing go karts at night with one host family was a highlight of the men’s stay a few weeks ago in Dayton, OH. For the women, definitely exploring downtown Loveland, OH whilst eating baggies full of locally made chocolate squares. One of the most memorable stays we have had was in Russell’s Point, OH when our host family took us out on a night time hayride. We prayed the rosary together while admiring the starry night sky and marveling over the beauty God had placed right before our eyes.
Team 3 has been so blessed and has received so many graces thus far, we fervently await to see what else God has in store for us. Please keep us and all the teams in your prayers, as you will be in ours.
“From the rising of the sun to its setting, let the name of the Lord be praised.” Psalm 113:3
Yours in Christ,
