“[For], ‘Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’ How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?”
As Team 11 is closing up this semester at Providence Academy we realized that we have a very busy schedule! We had the blessing of going to one of our teammate’s farms for Thanksgiving in Iowa, which was very exciting! We were able to meet some of her extended family, go on a hayrack ride, hang out with her horses and cows a little bit, play some cards, and altogether just have a nice time of rest together bonding as a team!
Needless to say, we have greatly enjoyed being able to stay with students in their homes and getting to know them on a more personal level, while bringing Christ to them.
In our upcoming schedule we have our most intense retreat, the senior retreat, on which we hope to truly impact the students in a way that enables them to have the courage to go off to college and proclaim Christ in their actions and words. We are all very excited! We love getting to know the students individually, and especially when it involves food and Christmas!
We have also been able to stay with some wonderful host homes (people who open their homes to us for two weeks at a time) who have such hearts of service. The families’ willingness to serve us has been so inspiring as we are here to serve them. We have been able to have some fun times with these host homes as well, including watching Downton Abbey and drink tea with a host mom and playing airsoft with some of the students in the host home!
Needless to say, we have greatly enjoyed being able to stay with students in their homes and getting to know them on a more personal level, while bringing Christ to them. Some of the highlights of being able to serve the students all throughout the day are going to classes and being able to hang out with the students after school.
One of the women on our team goes to the “Foods” class and has loved getting to know the students while eating and doing dishes with them. As well as one of the men on our team has the opportunity to get to know guys while lifting with them in the weight room here at Providence and off-site at gyms nearby.
As we’ve gotten to know the students we’ve realized their overwhelming desire to be loved. Because of this, we can only truly love them if we love Christ first. As a team we are learning to lean on Christ and each other to succeed in the ministry.nWe are so blessed to be here serving at Providence Academy as Team 11!
