Greetings from Team 9! As always, we are in the great town of Forest Lake, MN, serving and loving this community. We did escape the daily scenery during our high school “Awaken” retreat over an hour and a half away at Camp Omega. The teens were excited to leave the hustle and bustle of school and work to the quiet and relaxing oasis in Waterville, MN. The retreat was planned by our two second-year team members Kristen Miranda and Joshua Calhoun, who both used their great insights from having previously been a youth minister and on a traveling team.
The retreat was executed smoothly and ran easily for the team. Our time consisted of talks on awakening the heart, spirit and flesh, men’s and women’s sessions, games, outdoor activities such as broomball and snow tubing, and the best of all, we were blessed to have an all-night perpetual adoration chapel available for all of our retreatants. After the retreat we had many teens tell us about how the Lord moved them during their time at the retreat and some are even now looking for new ways to serve by living an active life in the Spirit of God.
Our time here at Forest Lake is beginning to wrap up, as we have almost 10 weeks left; however, our ministry continues to grow and change. As of now we have youth nights continuing each Wednesday, several discipleship groups, confirmation classes, and small groups all with the goal in mind of forming confident, Catholic leaders here at St. Peter’s. Our hope is that by May we have a core team of high school students on fire for the faith, ready to pass their flame to the torches of their peers.
Please pray for our team, that we would be examples of Christ-like leaders for our teens and that God would send His laborers for the large harvest of middle school and high school youth here at St. Peter’s.
“Then he said to his disciples, ‘The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; pray therefore the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.’”
